"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

Laces

As if we don't have enough to be proud of with this boy,
he manages to make my heart swell even more.

I swear, once this kid gets an idea to do something in his head,
he will practice and try and ask for help until said skill is acquired.
Like riding his bike with no training wheels.
Like writing his name.
and then mine and Eric's and even Ella's and Kate's...
Like playing T-ball.

Well, he loves his Nike's.
He's had 2 pairs and they are his favorite shoes. EVER.
He wears them until his feet can't possible squeeze into them any longer.
His latest pair are lace ups...
Before, he had no issues asking me to tie his shoes.

Only now, he's a kindergartner and way too "big" to have his momma tie his shoes.
This is the theory in his head, as I would have absolutely no
issues tying his shoes for him until he's 30...

So, he asked Eric and Jackie and then me for advice on how it's done.
After 3 days...
(and lots of tears and running to his room to throw himself on his bed in despair)

BAM! My boy ties his own shoes.

I must say, I'm really liking this age. He's growing like a weed!

  1. That's my boy. He spent almost 20 minutes, focused on tying his laces the night before. I was frustrated just watching him so I walked away. But he didn't give up and he learned it. I am so proud of him xoxo
