When I was little, one of my favorite summer memories was
running around outside at night and chasing June Bugs with my big brother...
Tonight, was the first time I've seen them this summer.
Usually they make their appearance here a little earlier, like at the end of May.
Maybe they've been around awhile and I need to get outside more often in the evenings...
I was picking up popsicle sticks left behind from today ... remnants of a day well spent.
Anyhow, so there I was, minding my own business, picking up all the trash and
I get binged on the side of my head by one of these clumsy bugs.
Naturally, I freaked out and started running like my life was on the line,
much to the enjoyment of the kids.
The kids brought back some fond memories for me when I told them
how I used to love chasing the bugs around.
They thought it was a really cool idea and decided to try it out for themselves.

They're on the hunt for some june bugs...

As I'm writing this I can hear the girls screaming with fear
and saying "That's gross!" and the boys squealing with delight.
I love it... this is what childhood is made of.
I love it... this is what childhood is made of.
I sat outside at 8:30PM like a crazy person.
I was a mad mom on a mission.
I wanted to get a photograph of one of these darn bugs in flight to show you guys.
Not a single june bug wanted to have their picture taken, I guess.
So, a half hour later with no picture, I'm feeling pretty silly.
Nighttime swinging is the best... and it's a beautiful night.

It's a great night to enjoy your own little june bugs...

I am a little repulsed by the fact Charlie touched one of those and that one hit you in the head - BLAH. But I love the post, I love seeing them laugh and enjoy life...I wish they could stay little forever and never have a real worry in their lives...xoxo
