"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

Little Stars

There are always things that surprise me as a mom. I think I know
every little thing about my kids. I know what they like to eat, how they
like to sleep, how to approach them when they're upset.
I know how to wake each of them up the way that suits them, I know
not to push when they get too embarrassed.

It always is a pleasant surprise when they show me something new.
Charlie, he's a performer. He loves to be on stage and that
was pretty obvious, from the past few years of school plays and shows
that he's been in. This year was no different. He made us laugh.
His little freckled face and that PROUD smile was contagious.
My favorite part of his performance was an interpretive "Ka"
dance where he had to pick up Julianne ballet style and then she did the
same to him. This is hilarious to me considering Julie is almost double his height.

The bowtie? Well, that was just icing on an already cute cake...

It's Kate that surprised me. She let her shy smile beam.
I couldn't show her that I was directly watching her because
she gives me a bit of attitude when she sees that. She is the kid
that gets embarrassed if I wave to enthusiastically at these events.
Gotta play it cool.

So proud of my little piano player.

Sometimes, being a mom is really fun.

Snow Days

The beauty of living in Southern California is that we get the best of both worlds.
We have beautiful beaches with their accompanying sunny glory, and then not even 2 hours
away, there are hills of snow and sleds with the need for snow pants and parkas.

my good old Docs made an appearance again...

Getting away to Big Bear is good for both staying
in and unwinding and getting out there and playing.

Sledding mishap...

The balance to all the outdoor activity was board games and movies.

Tubing

The tiny, brave one.
She is fearless. I don't ever want to forget this weekend.
She did the highest slopes. Again and again.
I went down once and was terrified!
She threw herself without a second thought on those sleds and tubes.
She embraces life. It's a little scary and a lot amazing.

It was a great weekend.

Here Comes the Sun...

A glimpse of Ella.
She is truly a ray of sunshine and
more often than not, she is the reason
I keep it together on a daily basis.
I'm really happy with the decision we made

not to send her to preschool this year and
keep her at home until next Sept.

Happy Spring, friends.
The flowers blooming bring hope.
