"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

Let's Go to the Fair!!

I love County Fairs.
Fried food, pulled pork, grilled corn.
Photo displays, tablescapes, quilts.
Live music, newborn pigs, tilt-a-whirl.
What's not to love, really?

Wanna know how brilliant I am?
I took the photos of Kate's boots before we left and made
my blog post about it and completely forgot to put my
memory card back in my friggin' camera.
We drove down to the Fair and were getting on an
old-fashioned yellow school bus and I wanted to
take such great photos of the kids. Bam. My shutter
wouldn't release because I had no card.
I was so devastated!

Needless to say, I pouted the entire rest of the bus ride
to the fairgrounds and we spent the first hour of our time there
trying to locate a booth that sells memory cards.
(By the way, there are none and those
information booth attendants don't know what the hell
they are talking about!)

J found a SUPER NICE lady with a HUGE camera
and asked her if she knew where we could get an SD  card.
She was kind enough to sell us one of her own 8gb cards for only $20!
What a deal and she really saved me. Thank god for nice people in the world.

The air was thick with the smoke from the grills everywhere.

Today, not only did we bring my three kids,
but we were feelin' ambitious and brought along my nephew Mark too.

Fried Oreos...interesting.
The kids were dying to go on the rides but we wanted to
do the barns and animals first cause they go to sleep early.

 Our littlest cowgirl

The new little baby pigs were adorable!

Ella tried her hardest to keep up with them.

They petted everything they could get their hands on.

Kate at the red barn

Oh was he proud...

And finally, the Goliath Slide

Not surprised, the boys LOVED it!

I love this girl.
Waiting for the pony ride.

We have no idea why but she just suddenly started crying on the pony.
It was so adorable, her pouty lip. You never know what you're going to get from Kate.
She has such a full and wonderful range of emotion that life with her is never, ever boring.

She said she didn't have to  pee. I think she lied.

Boys being boys. 4x4 with the double wide.
Thank god there was no baby in the stroller.

It was a feat all in itself to get the 4 kids to share whatever we got
for them to eat. A few tears were shed but it worked.

Playing in the Funzone before we took the bus back to our car.

My little red...

And last but not least. My favorite shots of the whole day...

It was a great day. I love the OC.
Can't wait til the LA County Fair this September.

I want to enter something in one of the Fair's contests this year.
Hopefully, by then I will have gotten better
at this photography/lighting/crispness thing.
