Summer needs to end already. I'm running out of fun ideas
for the kids to do to keep them unbored and not fighting.
I'm all for the free play and promoting self-soothing and letting
them use their imaginations but by the 604th complaint that
Charlie is, in fact, jumping on their bed in his underwear while
chanting, "Katie is a boy!" over and over... I am about to lose my damn mind!
The Olympics have been a pretty good distraction for them.
Charlie is impressed with the swimmers and wants to swim like them.
But they still need more...
I knew this would happen. It happens every summer.
So back in April, I stocked up on all kinds of art supplies
and paints to keep them creative and distracted and busy.
Today, it worked. It was nice and calm in my home and I loved
seeing them be unique and creative. Charlie called himself an artist again
and that really struck a chord in me. I like that he thinks that of himself.
"Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain
an artist once he grows up."

I love their serious, little concentrating faces...
"Children are apt to live up
to what you believe of them"
Lady Bird Johnson
I believe that my babies can be anything they want to.
They are smart and kind and capable. They will give back to this world.
I am sure of that.
Let's just hope they make it through the summer so that they can become
those gracious, loving and kind adults that I believe they will ...ha ha.
Any new ideas for keeping them busy are WELCOME!
