"The trick is to enjoy life.
Don't wish away your days,
waiting for better ones ahead."
M. Hinckley
We've been doing just that... Enjoying life.
The kids just finished their last day of summer school today.
They half loved it, half hated it. In the morning, when they had to get
up, it never failed - they decided they were done with summer school.
But when we came to pick them up after school, they didn't want to leave.
I'm glad we got through it and are able to get a real summer where we
sleep in and don't have to make lunches. I hate making lunches!!!
So, we are officially on break until the beginning of September.
I am aching for Fall now. Like crazy. Looking back, I suppose
I get like this every year... see? and see?
But this year it's amplified. I'm craving warm red and brown tones,
I already pulled out my apple candle. I'm two steps away from the fall wreath...
One of the major reasons is that I'm starting college at the end of
August and I'm really looking forward to it. I always loved school.
Now that my 3 are older and I have the support of those around
me, I decided to give it a try... I am ready to register for my classes
and go buy school supplies. It's weird that the kids won't be
the only ones I'm buying pencils and backpacks for this year.
Do peachees still exist? Oh man, I feel old...
I'm on a mad hunt for the perfect first-day-of-kindergarten dress
for Kate. It's been a month that I've been searching the internet
like it was my job and I still haven't found it... I will though.
Our days have been filled with swimming and bike riding...
Coloring and baking, dolls and popsicles.
Here's a glimpse into our last couple of weeks:
Charlie started in a soccer league. He is in love!
Adores this sport and tries so hard to do his best.
Eric is his coach which is really fun and sweet.
He scored last week and the way his face lit up with pride
made me so happy for him.
Our group of kids had a huge pajama party/movie night.
They had a blast...
My baby girl's been loving anything that has to do with the kitchen these days.
She loves to help with everything I do.
We made a pizza dinner together the other night and she, as always, was hilarious.
I have been reading a lot. I realized the other day, that there are a few classics that I have
never read and probably should, so I bought them. I adore getting packages in the mail.
Especially when those packages are books. I am looking forward to digging into these...
and cooking something out of my new Julia Child cookbook.
I have a new baby cousin. So weird to say at 32 years old.
She is truly a doll. She's visiting from NC right now. My daughters are in love with her and
have been trying to convince my aunt to let us keep her here in CA with us.
I hope you're enjoying your summer as much as we are
and that you have something to look forward to also...
Enjoy your life.
I sure am.
