"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

The Simple Things

I've been trying hard to find inspiration lately. Nothing. I'm feeling really worn thin. Very uncreative and totally boring. Not fun. I even decluttered all the toys in the house for a yard sale coming up hoping that it would clear the blockage that I'm feeling and still... nothing.

This is very frustrating.

Put it this way, I wish it would rain so that the weather would match my mood and then,
at least I'd have a reason to go buy Kate & Ella some fancy new rain boots that
I've wanted forever and have a really cool photo shoot.

Blah.

Today, to try to shake the blahs away I spent some time with my girls.
Kate wanted to bake cookies. I didn't have all the ingredients for
cookies so she settled for a cake instead.

It was fun spending some one on one time with my big baby girl
while my little baby girl took a much-needed nap.
We don't get to do that very often.
She sang me songs and ate her pudding and hammed it up for the camera
all the while making me fall more and more in love with
the beautiful little girl she is becoming.

Here's how to make an Oreo Cake - Kate style.

Of course you have to start with a snack and a pair of purple sparkly heels, right?
Oh that face. I will never tire of it.

Our secret ingredient to a super moist cake

Of course, you have to do a little taste test...

Don't forget the Oreos!

The final product...

She was excited to taste her masterpiece.

Look who awoke from her nap with a huge smile, ready to help us bake!

It's the simple things in life that make every day worth living.
Today, it was baking with my girl.
And it was a good day.

  1. Oreo cake ~ Kate style was very delicious. She is something else. She made me go upstairs with her last night to play dollhouse and I had to get her permission to go take a bath.
