"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

F-I-V-E

Really, how am I supposed to make it through sending him off to Kindergarten?!

I was a hot mess trying to make it through his 5 year well-child check up!

We needed to get a few things done (tb test & physical) before school
starts in the Fall so we got it all taken care of today.

Most of the time, I make the huge mistake of telling him in
advance that he has an appointment to see the Dr.

Today, I didn't and I felt bad for the little guy, walking into the office
thinkin' it was his poor sisters who would be seen today.

Thus the face...

5 year stats:

Weight: 34 lbs
Height: 41 inches

He did so well. Answered all of the nurses questions
with a sweet, nervous smile.

The vision and hearing test is the part I loved most.
He had to identify the objects he could see from the hallway with one eye covered.
He guessed a mushroom for the umbrella. Very cute. Nurse Addy chuckled to herself.

and then he had to say "Beep" every time he heard the beep on the headphones.
For some reason, this gave him (and me and Kate) a major case of the giggles.

When he had to put on the gown, out came the water works. He got scared.

It took a whole lot of time for Dr. Castro to come see us,
so he gathered up some courage and explored the room.

My silly little Charlie

And finally, Dr. Castro examined our boy.

We left with a clean bill of health, a few Spiderman and princess stickers,
3 blown up latex gloves to try to bribe them into waiting peacefully,
a note to Charlie to wear his bike helmet at all times when needed,
a pinky swear promise to the doc that he'd sit in his car seat and
not complain about it and a big hug from his favorite Dr.
