For some really strange reason, I feel very nostalgic about the East coast.
Feels almost like I grew up there. Which is strange cause I never left California until
I was about 18 to visit friends in Montreal, Canada.
I love the seasons. I love the history. I love that you can just take a train for an hour or so
and be in a different state completely. California totally isn't like that.
We took advantage of our location and decided to go spend an afternoon
in Providence, RI. I've always wanted to take the kids on a train ride.
It was a fantastic day...
At the train station...
Someone get really mad at me for not listening to what she needed to say.
It was a gray, rainy day. Right as we walked out of the station, headed
who knows where, we say the Capitol Building and my favorite store
lined with gorgeous orange and yellow leaves, Nordstrom.
We collected leaves from all the places we got lucky enough to visit.
These were among my favorites.
To say I enjoyed walking and driving around this city is a huge understatement.
The old houses alone were worth the visit. Add in Brown college, a park on a hill,
a street full of amazing restaurants (Liberty Hill) and lobster bisque soup... perfect!
They loved the Lobster soup...
This is how the little sisters kept themselves entertained as we took the train home.
They took turns braiding each others' hair.
South Station in the fog...
We then made our way, in the rain, down to Macy's to buy the Make Way For Ducklings book.
Macy's always makes me think of the holidays. It's always to well-decorated and smells so good in there.
Cutting through Boston Common to get to the Cheers Bar...
So beautiful.
Cheers
Our day ended by a really delicious dinner at Legal Sea Foods.
I had lobster, Jaclyne had stuffed lobster. The girls thought we were both gross for eating
crawly seafood. I wore a lobster bib and my girls were embarrassed. Good times.
Day 2 was a really fun adventure.
Day 3 though, may just be my favorite day.
Vermont!!!
Until next time...
