"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

Crystal Cove

It was a glorious morning. The kids let me sleep in...
Charlie poured cereal for his baby sisters and they were
peaceful and quiet while their momma slept.

When I made my way to the kitchen, I found the older 2 enjoying
Saturday morning cartoons and my Ella had made herself
a pretty impressive clubhouse that she was quite proud of.

Since they were so well-behaved, (and no part of me wanted to waste
such a beautiful day inside the house in my pj's) I let them pick something
special to do today. They chose the beach.

I didn't want to do the same beach we went to a few days ago
so I found another that I thought they would adore since they're
so into exploring and discovering new things...

It's got such a quaint, lovely and small town vibe, this beach. From the vintage-looking beach cottages,
to the colored umbrellas, to the tide pools, it felt like a day straight out of  a '50s movie.

It actually felt like we were on the shores of Lake Tahoe and I liked that...
Our family used to vacation there for a week in the summers and I really miss it.

I wouldn't really bring my kids here solely to play in the water though.
The sand is nice and trash-free but the shores are peppered with seaweed and sea grass.
Ella was actually afraid to step on it and would often stay stuck until one of us
came to save her from the "sea monster stuff" as she calls it...

The shore is also really rocky so the kids were hesitant to play in the ocean.

They really enjoyed searching for sea creatures...

We found some pretty cool ones. They were in love.

This little guy was my favorite.
It was a gorgeous day.

We're looking forward to celebratin' and party planning this weekend.
We have a birthday coming up, and you all know how much we love birthdays around here!!!

Enjoy Memorial Day!

  1. This beach was a big hit with your littles. Kate still talks about it and how she already went to two beaches. It looks like a sleepy little seaside town on the east coast... Love the pictures of them running from the waves together.
