"There is no more — a higher calling — than raising children who are kind, who live with grace and who are going to be generous human beings in the world. There isn’t anything greater than that."

Roots & Wings

Two of my favorite movies have always been Steal Magnolias & Beaches.
I loved the stories of these women who overcame adversity and did it
while leaning on each other, and always with laughter.

The mom/aunt/grandmother & daughter relationship, the incredible bond
between sisters and the undeniable connection of best friends.

For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to strong, intelligent women.
Drawn to that strength that shines from within and illuminates the strength in my own self.

Life hands you a lot of obstacles.
You're beaten down faster than you can get back up sometimes.
Leaning on those women in your life can be a game changer - the difference between
life and death, happiness and despair.

I don't, for a single second, take for granted the blessing it is to be in
a family, both blood and not, that encourages my every move, celebrates my every success,
and most importantly gives me the roots I need to stand firmly on the ground along with
a set of wings in order to fly and become the person I need to be.

So many events have happened in my life recently that make me
savor these relationships and these people even more than I already did.

San Diego March 2012
A trip of mom and sisters - lots of laughs and margaritas.
Mostly, loving the fact that we love each other so much
and being together is so fun and easy.
I love that we are in that place.

Fresh handmade tortillas...so good!

Of course there were a few squabbles...
and a pouting Nini.

Beautiful San Diego Sunset

I got my girls little Mexican leather purses
like I used to have when I was little...

I just want to crawl inside her dimple and take a nap there!

My strong, beautiful sisters,
Nia, Nini and Keeny.

and of course we had to end the trip with cupcakes.
Heavenly Cupcake, San Diego...

Thanks Ma, for such a fun, needed, little vacation.
I love you beyond words.

My grandma's 80th birthday

She's been through a lot, my grandmother.
She's still kickin'. Still laughing and being funny, and

still full of heart and filled with life.

I love her...

4 Generations

I come from a long line of strong women, who love, care and do what needs to be done.
These are women that you’d want standing beside you, no matter what you were facing.

And I'm glad they're in my corner and in the corners of my daughters and nieces.
I'm especially glad to be one of those strong women who will carry on this
relationship with my own daughters, nieces, sisters and friends.

Couldn't have said it better myself...
